When someone searches for your business on Google, your Business Profile (the panel with your hours, photos and reviews) is usually the first thing they see. You can help them find your merch by adding products to your profile, posting an update when you launch, and adding photos of your merch.

Why it matters

People who search for your business by name already know and like you. Some of them are exactly the people who'd buy your merch. Many of them won't visit your Instagram or website. Your Business Profile is where they'll see it.

1. Add your merch as products

Many businesses can add products to their profile, each with a photo and a price, using Google's product editor. Not every profile gets it, though. Food and drink businesses are given a menu editor for their menu, and many cafés and restaurants won't see a Products option at all. If yours doesn't, skip to the next step: an update with a photo and a link to your shop does the same job.

  1. Open your Business Profile (search for your business name while signed in, or use the Google Business Profile manager).
  2. Find the option to add products, labeled Products where your profile has it.
  3. Add a product: name ("Logo hoodie"), photo, price, description, and a link to that product on your shop.
  4. Repeat for your 3–5 main products.

Use your best photo for each, ideally a real person wearing it.

2. Post an update when you launch

Profiles let you post short updates, offers and events. Post an update on launch day:

  • A photo of the merch
  • A short line: "Our first merch is here: tees, mugs and totes."
  • A button linking to your shop, such as Buy or Learn more.

Post again when you add something new, and before the holidays.

3. Add photos

Add photos of your merch to your profile's photos, especially photos of staff or customers wearing it in your space. They help people picture it.

4. Mention it in replies to reviews

When customers mention merch in a review, reply and thank them, and mention where to find it.

Keep it up to date

  • Update product prices if they change.
  • Remove products you no longer sell.
  • Post seasonal updates.
