About us

Merch for the places people love

The Merch Counter gives coffee shops, breweries, gyms, bakeries, bookstores and every other local business a merch shop with their own logo, with no inventory and nothing up front. We print and ship every order.

Why local businesses

Most merch tools are built for creators with an online following. The businesses we care about have something else: customers who walk in every day, know the staff by name and keep asking whether there are shirts.

Those businesses usually say no, because yes has meant buying boxes of stock, guessing sizes and packing orders. We built The Merch Counter so they can say yes in an afternoon, with nothing to buy and nothing to store.

How we make money

We keep 20% of each sale. That is the whole price: no setup fee, no subscription, no fee to list products. If a shop doesn’t sell, it pays nothing, which means we only do well when our shops do.

Who makes your merch

Every order is printed by our print partner, Printful, at facilities across the US, and shipped straight to the customer. Payments and payouts run through Stripe. If an item arrives misprinted or damaged, we reprint or refund it at our cost.

How we keep the marketplace honest

Shops go live when they publish, and we review new shops and designs afterwards, with automated screening for well-known brand names and marks. Designs that use someone else’s trademark or copyright are taken down and never printed again.
